PLANNING FOR THE RACE SEASON AHEAD

It feels weird to say it but the racing season has wrapped up here in Colorado and for many of you as well. It was just a blip on the radar and felt more like a chance to stretch the legs but not really go hard. I hope you had a chance to open the throttle a bit this summer, too, but I acknowledge that many of you didn’t get to participate in a racing season at all. While racing is an element of our sport, I see mountain biking as an expression of our athleticism â€“ our personal fitness, health and wellbeing.

I want you to stop and consider how this past summer was for you as an athlete

  • What goals did you have and how did you do at achieving them?
  • What worked well for you both on and off the bike?
  • What didn’t work for you this season?

As fall sets in and short days set in, I want you to consider how you’ll keep moving forward in becoming a better athlete through the winter. Maybe you’re shifting gears (no pun intended) and looking forward to skiing and snowboarding or you’ll keep riding through the winter. Some of you are looking forward to working out in the gym lifting weights again.

Now as you look forward to next riding season, what are you looking forward to the most? Are there goals left unfilled from this season you’re going to keep chasing? Do you have a new bike on the way? Planning a trip focused on big rides and new trails? What will you do differently in the lead up to next season to feel even more ready than ever before?

If I asked you to commit just a few hours a week to following one of my training plans that would help you ride stronger, faster and move better (on and off the bike), would you do it? Check out this story out about two athletes I’ve had the privilege to work with about what is possible when you commit and are disciplined in your training.

The training plans I offer differ depending on your riding focus: Are you a diehard racer or an enthusiast rider that just loves to get out on the trails? Do you want a year round strength program to complement your riding or just a bit of a tune up to supercharge your spring? If you’re not sure where to start, drop me a note. I’d love to chat with you.
